The School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM) offers a wide variety of scholarships and awards to deserving students who demonstrate a high level of academic merit, exhibit strong involvement in extracurricular activities, and participate actively in community and charitable activities.

Since the establishment of SHTM, the hospitality and tourism industry as a whole and individual donors, both in Hong Kong and overseas, have donated a large number of scholarships to encourage academic and personal excellence among our students. SHTM students have benefited immensely from these scholarships and awards for the consummation of their academic achievement and development into all-round graduates.

The School has also established its own scholarships. Memorial scholarships in honour of two very outstanding late SHTM professors as well as service scholarships offered at the postgraduate level provide the opportunity for both MSc and DHTM students to render service and make administrative and study-related contribution to the School.

In most cases, students are nominated by the School based on their academic merit, but some scholarships are open to application by all students. In addition to academic merit, other factors such as leadership potential, financial need, and active involvement in community services or extracurricular activities are also considered. Applicants are usually invited to attend interviews, and a panel of judges examines and decides on the suitability of each applicant.
